Homeownership had a workaround. No one had designed for it.
You can buy a 2–4 unit home, live in one unit, and let rental income from the others offset your mortgage. It's one of the few structural ways ownership is within reach for buyers. But existing platforms measure these homes like any other, showing what they cost to buy, never what they cost to live in after the other units pay you back.
Affordability was a systems problem, not a calculator problem.
To make multi-unit ownership legible, I had to redefine what "monthly cost" actually means, and design a product that could compute and explain it transparently, in real time.
I was the founding product designer shaping Series' MVP across onboarding, financial modeling, the listing experience, and pre-qualification flows, in collaboration with the CEO and engineering.
